Reading comprehension:
Youichi and An sent their wedding invitation. The two of them studied together from school through university, and in club activities too, so I feel as happy as if someone in my own family were getting married. The invitation does not use the long set phrases fixed since long ago, but words full of both their feelings, so (reading it) it is as if the two of them were smiling and saying “Please come”.
Right after receiving the invitation, I called the advertising company where Youichi works to say “Great news! Congratulations!” And when I said “What a lovely invitation”, Youichi said “An wrote it, I only corrected it a little. Our flat is just one room with a dining kitchen, only about 6 tatami mats, but come and visit us”
Marrying a foreigner is said to be difficult, but with these two I think it will be fine. I am sure they will build a happy family.
Sorry for not being in touch for so long; how is everyone? You have always looked after us, and now we have decided to get married. Five years have passed since we first met in Mr Kobayashi’s class when we were students. We are delighted that Mr Kobayashi, who gave us so many wonderful memories, will also come to the wedding.
