44. ～べき (beki)
a. Connection: 動詞の辞書形 する→するべき／すべき

b. Meaning 1: must do ～, doing ~ is only right

Examples:
1, 収入があるなら国民として税金を納めるべきだ。
When you earn income, paying tax is a citizen’s obvious duty.

2, 教授に、読むべき本を30冊も指示された。
My teacher assigned me no fewer than 30 books I must read.

3, 学生時代、もっとよく勉強するべきだった。
I should have studied more as a student.

4, 人を傷つけるようなことは言うべきではない。（=～してはならない）
You should not say things that hurt others. (meaning you should not do ~)

5, ＊部屋に入るときはノックすべし。
You should knock before entering a room.
