37. っぱなし (ppanashi)
a. Connection: 動詞のマス形

b. Meaning 1: staying in the same state for a long time

Examples:
1, この1週間雨が降りっぱなしで、洗濯物が乾かない。
It has been raining all week and the washing will not dry

2, 新幹線は込んでいて、大阪まで3時間立ちっぱなしだった。
The shinkansen was packed, so I had to stand all three hours to Osaka.

3, 彼女は歯を磨いてる間じゅう水を流しっぱなしにしている。あれは資源の無駄づかいだ。
She leaves the tap running the whole time she brushes her teeth. That is a waste of resources.

4, 新製品の注文が殺到している。朝から電話が鳴りっぱなしだ。
Everyone rushed to order the new product. The phone has been ringing non-stop since morning.
