Types of visa for foreigners living in Japan

🇯🇵 The visa types for foreigners living in Japan that you need to know :
1。留学 (Ryuugaku ): Student visa

2。定住 (Teijuu ): Long-term resident visa (settlement)

3。永住 (Eijuu ): Permanent resident visa

4。永住者配偶者 (Eijuusha haiguusha ): Spouse of a permanent resident

5。日本人配偶者 (Nihonjinhaigu sha) Spouse of a Japanese national

6。家族滞在 (Kazoku taizai ): Living with a Japanese family.

8。就労ビザ (Shuurou biza ): Work visa

You need to tell ビザ (visa) apart from the COE (Certificate Of Eligibility):
ビザ: A visa is the sticker placed in your passport allowing you to live in Japan for a set period. The formal Japanese word for a visa is 査証 (sashou).

COE: This is the 在留資格認定証明書 (Zairyuu shikaku nintei shoumeisho), the Certificate of Eligibility for residence status
When you come to Japan, the Japanese Immigration Bureau issues you a COE, and only then do you apply for the visa.

Conditions for permanent residence in Japan
To apply for 永住 Eijuu [permanent residence] you must have lived in Japan for 10 years or more and have worked and paid tax for 5 years or more (on a work visa, not part-time arubaito work).
With permanent residence you can come and go from Japan freely without a visa, just like a Japanese national, except that you may not VOTE.

Conditions for Japanese naturalisation
You must have lived in Japan for no less than 6 years and have worked for a company and paid tax for no less than 3 years.
