How to use the particles が (ga), で (de) and に (ni) in Japanese

Japanese particles are fairly complicated and sometimes very hard to explain in translation. So it is best to learn the phrasing by heart and to study it in Japanese, so you get a feel for the nuance.
Look at the examples below and pay attention to the particles が、で、に

あふれる：to overflow, to be full of.

大雨が降って，池の水があふれました。Heavy rain fell and the pond overflowed.

ビールがコップからあふれてしまいました。The beer has overflowed the glass.

阿波踊り当日，徳島の街には観光客があふれていた。On the day of the Awa Odori festival the streets of Tokushima were overflowing with tourists.

あの店の中に入ると，いつもチョコレートの甘い香りがあふれている。Whenever you go into that shop, the sweet smell of chocolate fills the air.

一ヶ月の海外旅行から帰ってきたら，夫は一切掃除をしていなかったようで，家中がゴミであふれて いた。When I got back from a month abroad, my husband seemed not to have cleaned at all and the whole house was overflowing with rubbish.

ゴールデンウィークになると，この街全体が観光客であふれることになる。When Golden Week comes, the whole of this town overflows with tourists.

半年ぶりに家に帰ってきたら，郵便受けから手紙やちらしがあふれて散らばっていた。Coming home after six months, the letterbox was overflowing with letters and leaflets scattered about.

よほどショックだったのか，彼女の目からは涙があふれそうになっている。She must have had quite a shock — her eyes are brimming with tears.

秀一がいつも自信にあふれているのはなぜだろう。I wonder why Shuichi is always so full of confidence.
愛情に溢れる Overflowing with love.

このアトラクションでは，特殊なめがねを装着することで，臨場感にあふれる仮想現実を体験することができる。
The attraction is wearing special glasses so you can experience virtual reality fully, as if you were really there.

これ見よがし Deliberately showing something off (something you are pleased with…etc.)

ブランド品のバッグを、これ見よがしに持って歩く Carrying a designer bag around to show it off

彼女はこれ見よがしに、すらりと長いご自慢の足を組んで見せたのです。She crossed her long legs to show them off.

聞こえよがし Saying something deliberately for the other person to hear (sarcastically…etc.)

仕事上のミスを聞こえよがしに非難され、本当に腹が立った Being criticised loudly for a mistake at work really made me angry.

彼には、たとえ聞こえよがしに言ってみてもこたえないだろう。Even if you say it loudly for him to hear, it won't get to him.
