a. Meaning 1: together with ~
Noun + と+ とも (共) + に

３年間仲間とともにがんばった思い出は、一生忘れないだろう。
3-Nenkan nakamatotomoni ganbatta omoide wa, isshō wasurenaidarou.
I will never forget the memories of working hard together with my friends for three years.

日曜日ぐらいは家族とともに過ごしたい。.
Nichiyōbi gurai wa kazoku to tomoni sugoshitai..
I want to spend Sundays with my family.

b. Meaning 2: at the same time as ~
Noun / [Verb / い-adjective] dictionary form / [Noun / な-adjective] + である + と+ とも (共) + に

ピストルの音とともに選手たちは一斉にスタートした。
Pisutoru no oto to tomoni senshu-tachi wa isseini sutāto shita.
All the runners set off at the sound of the gun.
