Japanese Vocabulary about Work
We hope this material helps you study and work in Japan.

Work (仕事:しごと)

There are two main words for "to work"

1. 働(はたら)く: to work, to labour → the particle used with 働く is で

→ 来月(らいげつ)、僕(ぼく)は日本で働きます。Next month I will work in Japan.

2.勤(つと)める: to work (for) → the particle used with 勤める is に

→ 来週からトヨタ自動車(じどうしゃ)の本社(ほんしゃ)に勤める。

The word for going in to work (to the company) is: 出勤(しゅっきん)する。

→ 今週(こんしゅう)の土曜日(どようび)、私は出勤(しゅっきん)しなければならない。This Saturday I have to go in to work.
